Report: Working towards well-being
6 months ago we set out to try to understand why UK working professionals are the unhappiest & unhealthiest they’ve ever been.

As an organisation of practicing Doctors the rise of health (particularly mental health) issues within the workplace is alarming. This report is our attempt at combining our anecdotal evidence working within Medicine, along with the scientific literature to provide a sustainable long term solution.
With political tensions & a volatile economy, it is important that organisations empower themselves with the necessary education to put their people first. After 40 interviews with industry leaders, 3,000 words & 16 research references this report is for any HR professional, Leader, People person or anyone interested in employee well-being looking to better understand how they can serve their people.
Key findings include:
📈Only 1-2% of organisations measure their well-being initiatives
⛱️81% of employees want flexibility in where they work & 93% in when they work
🏋️♀️Physical exercise is the single biggest contributor to increased longevity & happiness
💰81% of employers actively invest into their employee’s well-being, however, only 23% of employees use them
😩Burnout rates remain on the rise post pandemic, with 48% of people in the UK surveyed suffering from burnout 💤Governments spend on average 2% of their GDP combatting short sleep & companies lose out on approx $2,000 per employee per year due to the same issue
📉Employers who prioritise employee wellbeing (Characterised by the “Highest Wellbeing places to work” created by Indeed) consistently outperform the S&P 500
🏥The current percentage of UK adults who are satisfied with their health has decreased by 3.4% since 2019 & reported evidence of anxiety or depression is the highest since 2010
